ILES DE LA MADELEINE

To appreciate the magnitude of the following photos especially around any of the coastline and beaches click on the image to zoom in for a closer shot and views that you cannot appreciate unless you visit these wonderful little islands on your own. This is an outdoors adventurers paradise, kayaking, boating, sailing,walking, hiking, biking and great food.

A six hour ferry ride to the Magdalen Islands and the first Island is Entry Island or Isle d'Entree, this is the only inhabitated island that is not connected to the remainder of the islands by bridges or sandbars. This small island makes up 5% of the english speaking inhabitants of the Magdalens.









Above is the hotel and pathways to the beach, this where the second bus and where all of the 21 CBIH members stayed.

Below is a carving of fisherman at work and in the next photo the fisher is cutting up some fresh mackerel for his own use.Below:Part of our first 10k walk was a walkabout on the wharves.

What looks like a ship or barge just above the break water is really a part of the rocks and coastline that has been sculpted by local artisans. Click on the same images at the top of this page for a closer view.

New Friends From The U.S. A.

August 14th, 2007 we met Walking Adventures International and trekked out to the Uisge Bans Falls and the North Baddeck River Trails. A great day of walking with wonderful new friends from the USA.

The picture to the left features some of the seashells that Shirley Pettigrew hand painted and donated to all participants who attended the dinner at Fortress Louisbourg. The shells are sitting on a book presented by the CBIH membership to the club president Rollie Coombes. The card on the right of the same photo reads:"Near The Sea We Forget To Count The Days".

PRE-WALK TO WILD COVE AND GOOSEBERRY COVE

There is always something to gain when doing a pre-walk as the five adventurers found out while trying to locate a good route through this very special place along the Cape Breton coast near Louisbourg.

The Pre-Walk To Wild Cove and Gooseberry Cove above proved to be one of the most fascinating coastal walk we have attempted, wild flowers abounded everywhere, hidden beaches, reefs and beautiful scenery around each cove and inlet.

CANADA DAY WALK EVENT

The Canada Day Walk Event, downtown Sydney.

Todays walk was a repeat of the route that we followed over ten years ago.
